Use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast two schools. You can choose Permian and Your school or Your school and your rival school. Do this assignment on the board and on worksheets for the scrapbook. Have students fill it in. This helps with reading comprehension and they have to think about Permian and connect it to their school. They have to look for the details. It also helps them discover school culture in Texas compaired to where they are, the 1980's to now and their school to a school in a different neighborhood. This can lead to discussions on time periods and American culture as a whole.
